As Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes (PATH) prepares to appeal a city council decision before the Ontario Land Tribunal, a fundraiser is being planned to help with its legal costs.
Last August, city councillors denied a zoning change that would have cleared the way for a tiny homes development on Lansdowne Street East at the former site of the Peterborough Humane Society. That occurred despite a city planning staff recommendation that the zoning be amended to allow it for it.
PATH spokesperson Sheila Nabigon-Howlett says with legal costs of some $35,000 associated with the appeal, it’s reaching out to the community for help. To that end, on May 31st at Dreams of Beans in downtown Peterborough, a fundraiser featuring entertainment and presenters will be held from noon to 11 p.m.
Nabigon-Howlett recalls what occurred that brought things to this point.
Based on the opinion of its legal counsel, Nabigon-Howlett is confident of a good outcome before the tribunal.
Nabigon-Howlett is sure there are many who support PATH’s work and that will translate into a successful fundraising event.
In the meantime, donations to the cause, or offers of assistance, are welcome. Email pathadm22@gmail.com to offer your help.
