You can help local kids and get a “Megathon” workout at the Brighton YMCA on April 14.
“Our Brighton Megathon is more than just a good workout – it’s a celebration of community spirit and generosity as we support one another and give back,” said Eunice Kirkpatrick, CEO of YMCA Northumberland. “Every donation fuels our mission to create healthier, more connected communities.
“Together, we can support programs that uplift and empower our neighbours to ignite their potential and thrive.”
The Brighton Y’s Megathon fundraiser returns next Monday, April 14, offering an action-packed day full of group fitness in support of the Y’s Strong Communities campaign.
Organizers said the full-day event is shaping up to be full of movement and meaningful impact.
The sweating will start at 7 a.m. and continue through to 7:45 p.m. Participants of all fitness levels are invited to get in on the action, with a variety of classes being offered – from the high-energy “Cyclefit and Step” to the mindful flow of “Vinyasa Yoga and Beginner Hatha,” added organizers.
“With each 45-minute- to one-hour session, attendees will strengthen their bodies while helping build a stronger community.”
As part of the fundraiser, attendees are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $5 per class.
Meanwhile, participants can boost their impact by collecting pledges to help reach the event’s $750 fundraising goal.
There will also be prizes and surprises. YMCA members and non-members are welcome to join in the fitness, fun and philanthropy.
The Brighton Y is located at 170 Main St. The full schedule of classes is accessible online.
