Emergency crews were busy over the weekend as the ice storm caused dangerous road conditions and widespread damage.
The Greater Napanee and Loyalist Township Fire Departments responded to multiple reports of downed and arcing wires, along with many other service calls.
Frontenac OPP reported 12 collisions on Highway 401 in the Kingston area within two hours on Saturday morning. Several vehicles slid into ditches and the median, with minor injuries reported.
Just before 10:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer carrying refined sugar rolled over west of Gardiners Road due to shifting cargo. Police closed one lane for cleanup. By 1 p.m., the truck was moved off the road, with towing delayed until conditions improved.
