Northumberland turns out for Ed’s House

The sold out 6th Annual Handbags for Hospice event in support of Ed’s House, Northumberland’s Hospice Care Centre was held last night.

Trish Baird, the Chief Executive Officer of Community Care Northumberland says the turnout was very gratifying.

Baird says local fundraising is an important component of Ed’s House success because provincial government funding covers only 60 percent of annual costs.

In addition to helping to raise the one million dollars a year Ed’s House needs to operate, Baird says Handbags for Hospice is a great networking event.

Last night’s gathering featured live and silent auctions, a signature drink, candy bar, full course dinner and a Golden ticket draw. Wendy Ito gave a heartfelt and powerful talk about her personal experience with Ed’s House when her father passed away.
