An investigation is continuing into a head-on crash that claimed the lives of a five-year-old boy from the Quinte area and a 25-year-old Stirling man, say Quinte West OPP.
Police confirmed the fatalities in an update issued Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025.
According to OPP, on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at about 3:45 p.m., officers, firefighters and paramedics responded to the collision on Old Hwy. 2 near Quinte View Drive. The crash involved a car and pick-up truck.
“The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Stirling, and a passenger in (the) car, a five-year-old boy from the Quinte area, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash,” said police, on Wednesday.
The driver of the pick-up truck, a 33-year-old Belleville resident, was also transported to hospital with unknown injuries, reported OPP.
Old Hwy. 2 between RCAF Road and Whites Road was closed for about six hours for the on-site investigation. Technical collision investigators and an OPP collision reconstructionist are continuing to help in the investigation, added police.

No other details were released by police.
