On September 13, 2023, at around 4:14 p.m., the police received a report of a suspicious individual at a business located on Strathy Road in Cobourg. Responding officers located a person who matched the provided description.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the individual was in violation of several release conditions and was found in possession of stolen items worth approximately $4,000. Those items were linked to shoplifting incidents at businesses in both Cobourg and Trenton.
Following an investigation, a 34-year-old man from Toronto was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. The accused is currently in custody and will remain so until a bail hearing is scheduled.
