U92 Spice House came into existence in 2019. Its name pays homage to Port Hope’s history as the site of Eldorado Gold Mines uranium refinery that was established in 1932. The refinery first provided radium, which was in high demand for cancer treatments, doing so until WWII. In 1947, under order by the Canadian government, Eldorado provided some of the vast amounts of uranium needed for the Manhattan Project in the US and eventually became a Crown corporation and supplied Canada’s first CANDU reactors.
U92 Spice House started with a modest menu of a dozen or so non-radioactive, but nonetheless spicy items – mainly Indian and Carribean cuisine.
Reymon Bolis took over the operation of U92 Spice House just before the pandemic. His first job was to expand the menu so that everyone in the family could find something on it that they enjoyed. He now offers more Indian and Carribean selections as well as Middle Eastern items like shawarmas, all of which can be tailored to your level of spice. Vegans and vegetarians will also be delighted to find many options too and the menu features items that kids of all ages will love like chicken tenders and onion rings.
There really is something for everyone at U92.
If you’re looking for something spicy, zesty, or even just tasty, then check out Reymon’s menu at the U92 Spice House website: MENU (u92spicehouseandtakeaway.ca)
