Port Hope Police laid charges in two separate domestic incidents last week.
Police say the first investigation was about arguments between a man and his spouse between April 11 and 16 where the victim was allegedly physically assaulted, spat on and had property destroyed.
As a result, a 38-year-old man was arrested Thursday (Apr 16) and charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, mischief to property and breach of probation after police responded to reports of a woman screaming.
He was released with a June court date.
Then a 29-year-old Cobourg man was arrested Friday (Apr 17) after police say there were several domestic incidents involving his former girlfriend.
Police say the man already has charges against him for assault and uttering threats against the same victim in 2019.
Police say the man continued to contact her and allegedly threatened and assaulted her, including one incident where she was choked.
As a result, the accused has been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of criminal harassment, failure to abide by bail conditions and intimidating a witness.
He was held in custody for a show cause hearing.
Police say the names of both men have been withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.
