Port Hope Police have charged a 26-year-old with impaired driving.
Police say they received a complaint about erratic driving on August 2.
It’s alleged that a man slowed down for construction on Jocelyn Street, only for another vehicle to speed by.
Police say the man followed the vehicle, and once he caught up, he put his vehicle in front of the other car, only for the female driver to drive into his car before fleeing.
Police say when the man again caught up with the vehicle on Ward Street, the woman drove across the sidewalk onto the roadway before hitting a utility pole at the corner of Hope and Frances Street but continued to flee.
Port Hope Police say the woman and the vehicle were found on Elgin Street, where an investigation into the driver’s sobriety began.
As a result, the driver has been charged with impaired driving, driving with over the legal limit of alcohol in her system, dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
The woman will be in court later this month.
