Project ONroute is wrapping up with a celebration in Port Hope.
This is a month-long project put on by Courage for Freedom, an organization that educates, trains and certifies front-line and community service providers on proven strategies and prevention tactics when it comes to human trafficking and sexually exploited girls.
Carrie Andrews, a local ambassador for Courage for Freedom and Project ONroute, tells us more about the campaign.
Andrews says this is a huge issue in Canada, but especially in Ontario.
Courage for Freedom says that over 60 per cent of human trafficking in Canada is initiated along the 400 series of highways.
The Project ONroute campaign will be wrapping up on Tuesday, July 30 with a 9:20 a.m. celebration at 20 ONroutes across the province, including the Eastbound Port Hope rest stop.
July 30 is also World Day to End Human Trafficking.
