Two women are facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting incident in Cobourg.
At approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, Cobourg police were called to a business on King Street West for reports of a theft in progress. Officers arrived on scene and located two suspects leaving the store. The pair were arrested without incident.
Following an investigation, police charged a 29-year-old woman from the Orangeville area and a 36-year-old Cobourg woman with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Both individuals were released on an undertaking with a future court date.
Police are reminding the public that theft and property crime remain ongoing concerns and are encouraging businesses to report suspicious activity promptly. Anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact Cobourg Police Service.
