Spring storm 2025: The latest from Canada’s top forecaster

We have the latest on when a pair storms that have our listening area in their sights will hit and what they’ll bring.

David Phillips, Senior Climatologist for Environment Canada takes a look at the area from just west of Toronto straight through Kingston.

Phillips says the first wave is tracking to hit after the dinner hour.

He says the rain will then be mixed with ice pellets before switching to freezing rain around midnight and it will stick around for several hours.

Phillips also says the harsh weather through the weekend could ultimately lead to downed power lines, making for a long weekend for Hydro One.

He suggests we all stay put. Stay off the roads and stock up on essentials in case of an emergency situation.
