A 44-year-old Brighton resident is facing charges in connection with two thefts from local businesses, according to Northumberland OPP.
On February 23, police responded to a report of a stolen automated cleaning device from a commercial premises on Oliphant Street in Brighton. Officers began an investigation, and an individual was sought in relation to the incident.
On March 8, police received a second report of theft – this time from a commercial premises on Main Street in Brighton – where nearly $1,000 in cosmetic products had been stolen.
On March 26, staff from one of the affected businesses recognized the individual sought by investigators and contacted police. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect without incident.
As a result, the individual has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
