With the federal election set for Monday, April 28, 2025, Elections Canada is urging voters to register early to ensure they receive important voting information.
Most eligible voters are already registered and should receive a voter information card by Friday, April 11. This card provides key details on where and when to vote. Electors who don’t receive a card or need to update their address can visit elections.ca and use the Online Voter Registration Service to register, check their registration status, or apply to vote by mail.
Chief Electoral Officer Stéphane Perrault says early registration helps ensure voters are prepared. “By registering, checking or updating their information early, electors will be sure to get a voter information card. The card gives electors all the information they need to plan their voting experience,” Perrault said.
Voters can also register at their polling station before voting, but Elections Canada encourages registering in advance to simplify the process. For additional details, voters can contact their local Elections Canada office or call 1-800-463-6868.
Elections Canada is an independent, non-partisan agency that reports directly to Parliament.
