Port Hope is preparing for the next phase of the Walton Street reconstruction project, with key dates and details now confirmed.
A public information session will take place on March 25, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, located at 56 Queen Street. This meeting is intended for residents and businesses directly affected by construction but is open to all community members.
Behan Construction will begin work on April 1, closing Walton Street between Cavan Street and Pine Street. Crews will begin by mobilizing equipment, installing fencing, and setting up temporary water lines. Materials will be stored at 74 Queen Street. While Walton Street will be closed, nearby roads such as Queen, Cavan, Pine, Ontario, and John Streets will remain open to reduce traffic disruptions.
Municipal staff are working to minimize the impact on downtown businesses and tourism. The team is implementing plans to ensure business continuity, maintain emergency access, and support pedestrian and cyclist movement.
For accurate project information, residents are encouraged to visit porthope.ca/Walton, follow @PortHopeDigsWalton on social media, or contact Port Hope’s Works and Engineering staff directly.
