Police are once again calling on motorists to make responsible choices when getting behind the wheel after uptick in impaired driving numbers.
Police say OPP officers across East Region have seen “a slight increase” in the number of impaired drivers so far this year, with 327 drivers already arrested and charged. In comparison to this time last year, this figure is up from 319, reports OPP.
“We know impaired driving can be deadly,” stresses OPP East Region Commander and Chief-Superintendent Lisa Wilhelm. “We encourage every driver to consider the potential impact of their actions on their own lives and the lives of everyone else on the road – never drive impaired.”
Police are also continuing to urge citizens who suspect someone is driving impaired or who see dangerous driving to call 911.
Meanwhile, OPP is also reminding residents that enforcement efforts are ongoing day and night, and that RIDE programs can happen anywhere, anytime.
