Cobourg Police Service (CPS) says they’ve increased patrols in the downtown area in response to community concerns raised during a town hall meeting in November 2024.
Residents expressed the need for a stronger police presence during early morning and evening hours to enhance safety and security in the vibrant downtown core.
Between January 1 and January 14, 2025, CPS uniform officers, special constables, and auxiliary members conducted 21 additional foot patrols and 45 proactive property checks. Officials say these efforts are focused on addressing community safety concerns and preventing crime during key hours.
The enhanced patrols are part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening engagement between police and the public while proactively addressing safety concerns to maintain secure and welcoming neighbourhoods.
CPS is committed to continuing these targeted patrols as resources allow.
