Northumberland County’s annual Hike, Bike, and Bark for Hospice returns on September 29, 2024, at Victoria Park in Cobourg.
This community-driven event, organized by Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation, aims to raise essential funds to support local hospice services, including the Palliative Care Community Team and Volunteer Hospice Visiting program. These programs operate alongside the 24/7 end-of-life care provided at Ed’s House, which recently expanded from six to ten beds, allowing more individuals and families to receive compassionate care.
Registration opened at the beginning of August, through a newly launched website, designed to streamline the process and enhance participant experience.
Director, Donor Relations & Communications Joel Scott says he’s excited to share the new website.
Audio PlayerParticipants can sign up as individuals, form teams, or join existing ones, choosing between 2k, 5k, or 10k routes to walk, hike, or bike. Dogs are welcome to join the fun as well.
Scott invites everyone to join in the fun and help support all of the great work done by the hospice.
Audio Player“We’re excited to bring our community together once again to support hospice care,” said Trish Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland. “Your participation is crucial to continuing our mission of providing high-quality, no-cost hospice services.”
This year is a critical one for Ed’s House as they’ve recently expanded.
Audio PlayerScott put it in perspective saying that with the increase in capacity they now need to raise close to 300 dollars a day to ensure smooth operations.
Registration fees are $30 for adults, $15 for youth aged 13-18, and free for children under 12 and pets.
