The Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) Foundation recently held its 2023 annual general meeting, celebrating its most successful year ever.
Chair Martha Hunt announced that the Foundation raised an astounding $3.8 million in community donations. This includes $2.1 million for essential equipment, such as the new CT Scanner, and $1.7 million earmarked for the hospital’s proposed redevelopment. Generous contributions were received from the Estate of Bill Scott, on behalf of Bill and his brother Bob, the Estate of Bruce Westlake, and Arnold Westlake.
During her address, Hunt praised the volunteers, from in-hospital helpers to event coordinators, for their indispensable role. “Your dedication makes local healthcare better, as seen with the new CT Scanner,” she said. Hunt also unveiled the Foundation’s new logo and website, which reflect the vibrant energy of their work.
The AGM also highlighted the success of the Foundation’s signature events, including the Ranney Gorge Run, Doctors’ Cook-off, and Catch the Ace Raffle, which all exceeded previous fundraising records. Local community support was showcased through various third-party events, like the CDHS Jazz Concert and the Monkey Business Monkey Hat Fundraiser.
A special moment was reserved to honour retiring Chair Calvin Newman, who has been a driving force for 14 years. Hunt attributed much of the Foundation’s success to his leadership and advocacy.
The Board welcomed new member Beth Lucciola from Havelock. As they look to the future, the CMH Foundation says they remain committed to enhancing healthcare in the community.
Residents will soon receive the latest Giving Matters Newsletter detailing the hospital’s continuing efforts and appeals.
