Again this year, the Cobourg and Port Hope Police Services will team up with Community Living & Respite Care Northumberland to participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.
This event is a vital fundraiser for Special Olympics Ontario, which helps over 26,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across the province.
As high temperatures are expected to continue throughout the week in Port Hope and Cobourg, Torch Run organizers have adjusted the event plan and route to ensure the safety of participants. The community is welcome to cheer on the participants along the route while taking precautions to stay cool and safe. Please see the updated route maps below.
Special Olympics Ontario provides opportunities for athletes to achieve their best in sports and in life. The Torch Run not only raises funds but also awareness about the importance of inclusion and empowerment for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
To further support the cause, a special 2024 Torch Run coin is available for purchase at the Cobourg and Port Hope Police Services for $20 each. Proceeds from these coins will go directly to supporting Special Olympics Ontario.
Join in on Thursday, June 20 and help celebrate and support our community’s athletes.
