During the 2023 holiday season, YMCA Northumberland partnered with Cobourg, Port Hope, and Ontario Provincial Police Services for Operation Red Nose Northumberland to combat impaired driving.
This initiative, supported by sponsors, provided free rides to ensure community members reached home safely.
With 115 volunteers offering 113 rides and covering over 3,200 km, the effort successfully raised almost $23,000.
These funds will support YMCA programs for residents of Northumberland.
CEO Eunice Kirkpatrick was happy to report another successful operation and emphasized the importance of volunteers who contributed 740 hours to the campaign.
