The Montréal Canadiens announced over the weekend that Owen Beck has been returned to the Peterborough Petes.
The Port Hope native suited up for two preseason games with the Habs, registering three shots in a 4-2 loss against the Devils last Monday and one shot against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 2-1 loss Friday. Both games were played at the Bell Centre in Montréal.
Beck was a second round draft pick of the Canadiens in 2022, suiting up for a regular season game with the team last season when he was brought in as an emergency call up for a game in Ottawa against the Senators.
The 19-year-old forward was brought to Peterborough from Mississauga, just before to the 2023 trade deadline, right after he had just won a gold medal with Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships.
In 30 games with the Petes last season, Beck registered 7 goals and 18 assists for 25 points, following that up with 8 goals and 8 assists (16 points) in 22 playoff games. During the Memorial Cup in Kamloops, he picked 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games.
Beck will not be in the lineup on Thursday when the Petes host the Sudbury Wolves as he still has one game left to serve on a 2 game slew foot suspension that he was assessed last season during game 5 of the OHL Championship Series against the London Knights.
