United Way was on-location at the Lions Community Centre on Elgin Street in Cobourg to stuff 1,300 backpacks donated by Northumberland’s generous community.
The Executive Director of United Way, Maggie Darling, told us a bit about the day.
Darling says they didn’t quite hit the 2,000 backpack mark they’d hoped for initially, but they’re still hoping to close the gap.
Drop-off locations are closed but Darling gives alternatives.
It’s not too late to help out. Donations are still being accepted at Northumberland United Way and online at ymcanrt.org.
During her chat with GoNorthumberland, Darling told us they’re next big focus will be the Community Fund Campaign in the Fall.
