The Quinte Museum of Natural History is featuring a new exhibit, Diving Deep: A Tale of Whales Through Time and you can learn about the evolutionary journey of these ocean giants. The exhibit also has life-sized whale skeletons.
“The show will take you through the evolutionary journey of the whale, from ancient whales to modern whales,” said Deana Way – Executive Director of the Quinte Museum of Natural History. “You will also see what conservation efforts are being used to save whales in our seas.”
Way told us what visitors can expect on their visit to the Museum.
The Quinte Museum of Natural History is located at 99 Dufferin Ave in Trenton and is open now open for its extended spring/summer hours, 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm until the end of September.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting the museum’s website located at www.quintemusuem.ca or at the door too.
“We are very lucky to be next door to Research Casting International, they are the world leader in museum technology services, specializing in dinosaurs and whale exhibits,” added Way who said the Museum wouldn’t exist without them.
In addition to the new whale exhibit, there are also two micro exhibits. Last year, visitors saw dinosaurs and back by popular, this year the T-REX will be featured along with “Fossilized Quinte” which will show visitorts what fossils they will be able to find in their own backyards or on local nature walks.
The Quinte Museum of Natural History is a charitable organization, so donations are always appreciated. They are also accepting applications for more volunteers.
“We have a wonderful core group of volunteers who have a love of natural history,” said Way. “We are always open to applications from potential volunteers who wish to share their knowledge too.”
The Quinte Museum of Natural History is a local gem to discover this summer in Trenton and a great family outing.
