Starting next week Lakefront Utility will be inspecting its water distribution grid.
Between April 24th and 28th the utility will conduct a systematic search for leaks along almost 140 kilometres of watermains in Cobourg.
Since most watermains are under roads the work will be done at night to avoid traffic disruptions. Detection activities will be conducted mostly on Town property. Technicians may need access to private properties depending on watermain locations.
Special sound amplification equipment will be used to listen for sounds of leaking water through pipe cracks and joints.
Lakefront says locating and repairing leaks in the system is an integral part of maintaining a reliable and safe water distribution system in Cobourg.
