All around the province and across Canada, it’s Dig Safe month and Northumberland County raised a flag last week to bring attention safe digging practices that will increase your safety and reduce damage to underground infrastructure.
As your outdoor projects kick-off, residents and contractors are reminded to call or click before you dig.
You can use Ontario One Call to check for water and sewer connections, gas lines, telephone, electricity, internet and TV cable wires before breaking ground.
Warden Mandy Martin stated that over 1 billion dollars in damage happens every year to underground infrastructure due to unsafe digging and it only takes a quick call or click to prevent it.
The Dig Safe Flag will fly on the County’s Community Flagpole from April 13 to 20, 2023.
Contact Ontario One Call before you dig: call 1-800-400-2255 or visit Ontario One Call – Click Before You Dig.
