Northumberland Food for Thought has received a United Way Community Impact Grant.
Now, local schools will have more access to nutritious food, ensuring students start their day the right way.
The $5000 Community Impact Grant will be utilized through the Central East Student Nutrition Program’s online platform that helps Northumberland County schools purchase food at affordable prices.
According to Kimberly Leadbeater, Chair of Northumberland Food for Thought and Registered Dietitian with the HKPR District Health Unit, 6-thousand students benefited last year from a healthy breakfast, lunch or snack through Student Nutrition Programs.
The grant means that schools can purchase more healthy food, said Leadbeater, ensuring that students start their day fueled for success.
