We’d like to introduce you to Donna Rusaw, a Rockstar Employee with Community Care Northumberland and Ed’s House.
Jenny McCaig Lindsay is a Communications Specialist with CCN and nominated Donna for her outstanding work during the Christmas storm. Highway 401 was closed on Christmas Eve from nearly the Quebec border to Toronto, leaving people stranded while on their way to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. Donna, with the help of volunteers help feed over 500 people that had made their way to the Keeler Centre in Colborne to seek refuge from the storm.
Jenny describes Donna’s ongoing commitment to serving others.
Donna was overwhelmed by the generosity of the community who brought in supplies to feed so many people, often from their own Christmas dinner stores. On hearing of the need, Donna emptied her own fridge and brought in supplies that included a catered dinner for ten that she had been preparing for a private client.
Rusaw is responsible for creating the meals for Community Care Northumberland’s Meals on Wheels program that runs out of the Keeler Centre and she is also the Food Services Coordinator for Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg. Donna understands people’s innate connection to food and how some of our best memories are connected to it. She always goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone has what they need, they way they like it, because nothing less will do from her perspective.
Donna was thankful for the support of so many volunteers as well as local grocery stores, the team at Food 4 All and the Red Cross who all helped provide over 1500 meals on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Rockstar Employee Day is brought to you by Experience Cobourg.
