Film buffs in the area are no doubt looking forward to this year’s slate of movies at the Eye2Eye International Film Festival.
We spoke with the new director Sarah Cleveland about the festival, her acting career, and the local film industry.
Originally from Cobourg, she moved to Kentucky where she lived for ten years. She returned to Cobourg in 2020 and since then has had roles in several major films for Lifetime, Netflix, and Amazon, and has won the 2021 ICFF award for Best Lead Actress in a Feature Film.
Cleveland said she is excited to take on the role of director for the Eye2Eye Film Festival.
When asked about the local film scene, Cleveland said the fact that there even is a local festival shows things have come a long way from when she was a kid.
She added it’s great that the festival is putting the spotlight on local talent.
While she wouldn’t say what the lineup of films for the festival would be, Cleveland said there’s something for everyone.
The Festival is organized by Film Access Northumberland, and features a line-up of award-winning films, documentaries, animation, and more all highlighting the best Canadian and local talent alongside international works.
It will run June 2-4, 2023 at Victoria Hall in Cobourg.
