Beer lovers in the area will be happy to hear that a new brewery is opening up in Campbellford.
Fogorig Brewing will be holding its grand opening event on Saturday, August 27.
Heather Anderson, one of the owners of Fogorig Brewing explained the history behind the name.
The name was given by one of the original land owners, Captain Thomas Allan, a Scottish Naval Captain. He built the stone grist mill that still sits on the property in 1834 and named the property “Fogorig”, after the village in Scotland, Fogo, where he was from.
Anderson said the “rig” part of the name is from the old Scottish name for “ridge”.
In addition to the brewery, Anderson said she hopes the business can act as a hub for local artisans.
She also told us they have big plans for the future.
The mill will eventually hold their four season taproom, as well as an event space and farm to table restaurant.
Fogorig will be holding its grand opening on August 27 from 12-9pm. They’ll have five beers on tap and for sale to go in the bottleshop.
There will be board games and lawn games for patrons to play, as well as live music starting at 1pm.
You can find Fogorig at 2445 County Rd 8 in Campbellford. You can visit their Facebook page for more information.
