Every child should be able to get a healthy meal.
Beth Kolisnyk, Community Development Coordinator for Northumberland Food For Thought, is working to make it happen.
NFFT is a nutrition program that gives school children nutritious meals for free, no questions asked.
Kolisnyk said a significant number of students have been fed since the program started.
Kolisnyk said its vital that kids get proper nutrition to help them learn.
As food prices continue to rise, Kolisnyk said she thinks even more kids will need to make use of food programs.
The program runs with the support of school staff and volunteers from the community.
Last year almost 6,000 students throughout Northumberland County benefited from a breakfast, lunch, or snack program at their school.
