Pay-per-use electric vehicle charging stations are to be installed at most ONroute rest stops along Highways 401 and 400 by the summer.
The province says at least two chargers are to be installed at 17 of the 23 Onroute stops, with another three to be open by the end of next year.
They are being installed by Hydro One and Ontario Power Generation’s joint network called Ivy.
With no direct funding from the provincial government Natural Resources Canada provided a 3.45-million-dollar loan to Ivy for the project, amounting to 30 per cent of the total cost.
