Brighton’s own sauce producer, Dorothy “Dot” Worobetz, the Owner of Saucy Dotty’s Gourmet Sauce has added two new spicy versions of her sauce to her line in time for the holidays.
Traditionally Saucy Dotty’s Gourmet Sauce has offered three varieties of her everything sauces: Original, Sweet, and Sweet Heat and after extensive testing has introduced two new spicier versions called “Saucy Heat” and “Extreme Heat”.
Audio Player“The original sauce has a very nice balance of sweet and spicy, with its molasses base giving it the silky-smooth sweetness that everyone loves,” said Worobetz. “Of course, the sweet and sweet heat versions are popular too but I got customer requests to give my sauce extra kick — so now there is “Saucy Heat” with habaneros and ghost peppers and “Extreme Heat” with double habernos and double ghost peppers.”
The sauce recipe has been in her family since the 40s and these latest tweaks rounds out her line.
“It was important to me that you could still taste the sauce not just the burn,” said Worobetz. “My testers definitely approved, it’s a good balance of taste and spice.”
“I have been growing, more retailers are shelving the sauce and I have sent sauces as far away as Arizona and Texas, just to name a few places,” added Worobetz.
Dot Worobetz who is in her 80s is constantly growing her business. Her website has been updated so that customers can order both the old favourities and also these new additions.
“We are also putting recipes out there on our social media,” added Worobetz. “Soon I will be showcasing ways to use the sauce in cooking videos because as I am proud to say, ‘Put it Where You Want it,’ because all the sauces are so versatile and these recipes and videos can show people how multi-purpose it can be.”
