Campbellford Memorial Hospital is currently operating at full capacity.
The hospital says they’ve seen a surge in acutely ill patients, leaving the emergency department and inpatient units full.
CMH says patients are dealing with chronic illnesses like congestive heart failure, events like a stroke or hip fracture, but fortunately, there are not currently any COVID-19 positive patients.
Due to this surge, non-urgent scopes have been cancelled for the time being, and people should expect longer wait times in the Emergency Room.
The community is also being asked to contact your family doctor rather than coming to the hospital for non-urgent concerns, or connect to a virtual on-call doctor by visiting virtualcarenow.ca or speak with a registered nurse through Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.
