An ambulance the Northumberland County Paramedics no longer need will now benefit the oral health of Northumberland County residents.
The decommissioned vehicle has been donated to ‘A Gift From the Heart’ which is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving access to oral health care.
The ambulance will now be used to conduct oral cancer screening throughout Northumberland County.
‘A Gift From the Heart’ hopes to help those facing barriers to access oral health care, which will improve their overall health.
This ambulance will be turned into a mobile office, removing the barrier of transportation, bringing this oral health service directly to the community.
In the past, the county has donated decommissioned ambulances to Habitat for Humanity, St. John Ambulance and the Cobourg Police Service.
