Today is Excellent Educators Day, brought to you by Fleming College Muskoka-Kawarthas SSM!
It’s an exclusive look into the lives’ of some of Northumberland’s best and brightest educators, including Liz Rennie, a drama teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Courtice.
After studying at Trent University, Rennie has been a teacher for the past two decades, but that’s not where it started.
Before she went back to school, she worked for several years at Second City in Toronto, which became crucial experience to enrich the lives of students.
Rennie says she believes arts and media are crucial enrichment for students, but also the extra-curriculars like improv club or putting a play together, offers an outlet similar to that of athletes on the football or basketball teams.
The secondary school teacher is still involved in theatre with the Northumberland Players, and was recently in a play written and directed by Alyssa Warmland.
