There’s been a lot of public interest over the redevelopment of the previous Woodlawn Inn and Restaurant.
Work is underway to convert 420 Division Street in Cobourg into a new rehabilitation and treatment facility.
Nicole Beatty, councillor and co-ordinator of planning and development for the Town of Cobourg, helps us take a deeper dive into information received thus far and tells us re-zoning of the property is currently taking place.
The information is being reviewed by the Town of Cobourg and the proponent.
Beatty says, if you’re interested in updates on the project, send an email to clerk@cobourg.ca with subject line 420 Division Street.
She says the centre will allow residents to access private rehabilitation care.
Beatty adds that the centre could have up to 18 rooms in operation and host up to 40 people, including support staff.
When asked if there’s been some backlash about the facility, Beatty had this to say.
There is currently a centre on Dorset Street in Port Hope operating under the same ownership and Beatty says most neighbours don’t even know the facility is located there.
