Last night in Port Hope’s Memorial Park, there was a candlelight vigil for the Kerin family.
Yesterday (Dec 9) marked one week since the death of 12-year-old Cormac Kerin.
He and his 10-year-old sister Shea were waiting for the school bus when they were hit by a vehicle, and Shea continues to fight for her life at Sick Kids in Toronto.
Ben Mills is a Pastor of the FBC Church in Port Hope and he says he put this together to let the family know that everyone was there to show their support and grieve together.
Shea’s father posted to Facebook that she had completed her third successful surgery to date, which was a nine-hour procedure to re-attach her spine and skull.
He added that her spinal cord is in tact and not damaged.
Municipality of Port Hope councillor, Jeff Lees, was at the vigil and says things like this affect the community as a whole.
Mills adds that the community came together in the Spring for another family as well.
