If you’ve attended pride events in Northumberland, you’ll recognize Ashley Bouman.
She’s the co-founder of the Cobourg Queer Collective and the president of the Cobourg chapter of PFLAG.
Bouman says what many people won’t know is that she recently graduated college and is a licensed paralegal, but she adds that all of her post-secondary education is so beneficial to her work with the LGTBQ2S+ community.
She says she became involved in PFLAG after she returned to Cobourg after going to school in Toronto for several years, and missed the queer community and thought this was a great way to get involved.
After starting in event planning, she became the president in 2016.
She also co-founded the Cobourg Queer Collective with Kim McArthur-Jackson and started pride events in Cobourg.
