Weetabix is celebrating 40 years in our community, while Post Consumer Brands is celebrating 125 years!
Yesterday (Oct 15), an Anniversary Celebration was held at their plant in the Industrial Park in Cobourg.
That was Plant Manager for Cobourg, Rick Glab.
He told us that earlier in the day MPP David Piccini made an announcement of $412,700 being invested in Post plants in Cobourg and Niagara Falls, allowing for a 30 per cent production expansion capacity and creating a total of 47 new jobs in the two facilities.
Glab tells us more about their milestones and changes.
Post Consumer Brands also donated $25,000 to Northumberland Food For Thought which operates breakfast programs and student nutrition initiatives in 40 schools across the Northumberland County.
Beth Kolisnyk is the Community Development Coordinator for Northumberland Food for Thought and she says this funding helps sustain their programming for all children in the area.
Glab says making this donation is just another example of how committed they are to this community.
The Funding from the government will be used for a 30 per cent expansion in product capacity for non-genetically-modified bran flakes and organic raisins, which will create 47 new jobs.
